  1. This is really interesting. It’s left me wondering whether it’s good or bad to introduce fear into my presentations. I can see that it gets a deeper emotional response, but it doesn’t necessarily sit well with me ethically, especially when you-know-who with the orange hair is doing it…. I guess you can raise fear themes, but it all depends on how you then address them. If you provide a neat solution to address the anxiety you’ve raised, for example… Right?

    1. I think your concerns are totally justified. Purposefully using fear in your intentions and messaging is a delicate dance. It certainly will evoke a response, but you have to be ready to deal with that and harness it in productive and (hopefully) ethical ways. It’s easy to beat the drum, but, as you said, you also need solutions.

It may also backfire if it’s thought to be too manipulative. Speaking for myself, there have been several commercial products that have run fear-centric ad campaigns in the past few years that I refuse to buy for that very reason.

Not something to dabble in lightly.

      Thanks for the comment!
